DETAILS for Advanced Sen Therapy Workshop

May 18, 19, 20, 2012
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10am-5:30pm
Pier 4 Hotel, Somers Point, NJ

An incredible class for the serious student seeking to understand the ‘whys’ of thai massage and take their practice to a higher level.

Includes an easy-to-understand overview of all the Sen lines the first day, and then two-days learning a new routine.

Total of THREE days, come for just the first day, the last two days if you've already taken the Sen overview, or all three days.

$100/Friday, or $180/Sat&Sun, or $250/Fri&Sat&Sun if paid by April 25
Friday: First day: Dive deeper into understanding the energetic philosophy behind Nuad Bo-Rarn. Uncover the underlying reasons related to Sen lines for different stretches in the regular routine. We will fully explore specific sen line locations, indications, and comparisons to other eastern and western systems. Minimal hands-on, mostly in-depth experiential learning (draw the Sen lines on each other!) & discussion. Take this day by itself if you are a beginning student or curious to better understand the Sen lines, then continue with the next two days if you want to learn a hands-on application for Sen Lawusang/Ulankga.
Saturday & Sunday: two days:  For therapists from any of the major styles  with prior completion of Levels I&II (Front, Side, Back, Sitting Positions) with ITM or similar, OR at a minimum, student should be comfortable with Front & Sitting Positions, and be able to perform a 90-min floor session, AND who have already had the Sen Overview class offered on Friday. Take these two days if you are already well-familiar with the Sen lines. Have fun giving and receiving with other experienced therapists while learning a new routine to balance one of the sen lines, new techniques & a deeper understanding of previous techniques.

Sen Lawusang/Ulangka therapy helps relieve problems associated with the ears, neck, chest, shoulder, arms, and more. Deep work on the hara and chest, and a great variety of stretches in Sitting Position. A wonderful 60-minute comprehensive routine, done primarily from Front & Sitting Positions. Enliven your thai practice with new moves that you and your client's will love.

Instructor and Class Format

Rose Griscom follows the ITM and Old Medicine Hospital protocol, has been teaching Thai massage for over 17 years, and specializes in sharing this work with a wide-range of students. She originally studied with Arthur Lambert at ITM-USA in Florida, and then with Chongkol Setthakorn at ITM in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Rose spent 3 years assisting Arthur, and then took over ITM-USA when Arthur moved to Thailand. She trains therapists at top spas around the country, leads workshops in the NJ/PA area, and has a private practice in southern NJ. Her personal practice includes vipassana meditation and chi kung.

Class begins with the traditional Om Namo chant, ringing of the bells, and warm-up movements. Teaching is devoted to clear, thorough demonstrations, with the students being led through the techniques with the instructor's direct supervision. Lots of multi-discipline teaching and hands-on aids. Each class includes a textbook. Videos are available for sale.

For the hands-on classes on Saturday & Sunday, be prepared to work and be worked on. Dress in loose comfortable clothing and have clean feet. Try not to arrive hurried and harried, but allow enough time to slip into the timed timelessness that this work involves. Eat lightly before class, as many of the movements compress the abdomen. Try to be well-rested and alert and receptive.

Classes are approved for continuing education credits by the NCBTMB (#152830) and THAI (#1064).

Come join us for a great few days!
