A Taste of Thai-Yoga Massage, November 9, 2021

  • Lewes, DE Lewes, DE United States (map)

ONLY 3 spaces left, register asap!

Learn the fundamentals of Thai-Yoga massage as it is traditionally practiced on a cushioned floor mat in this small fun class in a beautiful setting in southern coastal Delaware!

Thai massage is based on the ancient medical techniques of Thailand, which has roots in Ayurveda, Yoga, Buddhism, and indigenous Thai shamanic culture. It manipulates Sen (pathways somewhat similar to nadis or meridians) to help increase flexibility, reduce muscle pain, relieve joint restrictions, soften fascia, induce calm, and promote deep relaxation and rest. Therapists love the variety of movements and clients love the way it feels!

This is a wonderfully interactive practice that people love to give and receive. This hands-on workshop will teach you basic techniques, philosophy, cautions, and you’ll be led through a variety of passive stretches and deep compressions as you partner up to give and receive. We will work clothed, with the receiver prone & supine. You’ll learn fantastic techniques to address the feet, legs, hips, belly, ribcage, and back. You'll leave with a 45min basic routine to start adding to your practice right away!

While this training is geared toward massage therapists, other folks with good hands-on skills and body knowledge are welcome to join us (such as yoga teachers, martial arts practitioners, personal trainers, physical therapists). Reach out to the instructor (rose@thai-massage.org) if you have questions if this class is right for you.

Working on the floor provides great leverage and ease of pressure, allowing for a more powerful session that’s easier on your body.

HOUSING: This workshop will be limited to 7 people, and will be held at a beautiful Inn on 8 acres overlooking an expansive marsh in southern coastal Delaware, just outside the historic town of Lewes at the terminus of the Cape May-Lewes ferry. For an immersive experience, you can stay overnight at the Inn. There are 6 queen bedrooms, each with private bath, available at a deep discount, including a continental breakfast each morning. If you register with our BRING A FRIEND discount and share a room and bed with your friend, the cost is even less. The Inn is closed for the off-season so you will not enjoy it’s usual 5 star experience, but it is a lovely place to use for a workshop nonetheless. Use the link below to reserve a room before OCTOBER 22nd.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2021, 9am-5:30pm, 7 NCBTMB CEs for massage therapists, $175pp or $300 for two with our BRING A FRIEND DISCOUNT. You must register together at the same time with one person paying the full cost; see details under INTRO Registration below. Registration closes on November 3rd.

THINGS TO BRING: Bring a cushioned floor mat if you can (or 3 yoga mats & a thick comforter); sheets & pillow & bolsters; and because we will work clothed, wear loose comfortable clothing with minimal buttons or zippers that allows freedom of movement (such as yoga pants, sweatpants, loose cotton pants, pajama pants, t-shirt, long-sleeved top, sweatshirt), no jeans or tight shorts. Bring layers and socks to wear for your own comfort, as we will be leaving the windows open so it may be a bit chilly. Bring water and a snack or food to put in the shared fridge, or there are places to eat 10 minutes away. Please bring a clean face mask.

No smoking is allowed on the property.
