Table Thai Massage - private class

A two-day 16 CE hour semi-private class, held in Ocean City, NJ at the instructor's home office. Only 2 spaces available, so register early to hold your place.

Want to do thai massage without moving to the floor? This class will show you the passive stretches and deep compressions of thai massage to use as a stand-alone Table Thai session. Or, you can integrate this material into your existing table routine for a more powerful session your clients will love.

Good if you are new to thai or already practicing and want to learn more adaptations for the table. Learn a 60-75minute  routine with the client clothed, working prone & supine. (Note: this class will teach only thai massage, though you will be shown where swedish massage could be incorporated for a flowing integrated routine.)

We will address the body from the feet to the head. Material includes wai khru, basic techniques, brief history & philosophy, benefits & cautions, abdominal massage, palming the sen lines, and performing a variety of thai massage compression and passive stretching for a comprehensive therapeutic session. Work the feet, legs, hips, belly, rib cage, arms, hands, neck, face, shoulders, and back, learning wonderful techniques to deeply benefit your clients. Deep pressure with minimal effort, so it is easier on your own body to do.

Meeting dates are Wednesday July 11 and Monday July 16, from 9:30am-6pm both days, in Ocean City, NJ at the instructor's home office, with 1 to 2 other students. You will benefit immensely from the personal attention, small class, casual setting just a few blocks from the beach and boardwalk, and time off in between class meetings to practice and integrate the new material.

Cost is $350 for 1 student, or, if you have a massage buddy to join you, cost is $500 for 2 (meaning $250 each).

Wednesday and Monday, July 11 & 16, 2018, 9:30am-6:30pm.

Thai Massage Jam/Gathering

The 4-day attendance is currently FULL, but you can attend for SINGLE DAYS at the link below.

Special Event! We are excited to again offer this yearly gathering to the growing NJ/PA/mid-Atlantic/east coast thai massage and medicine community.

With new topics, new (as well as familiar) presenters, and a focus on practical hands-on techniques, you are sure to walk away refreshed and renewed with specific skills you can use with your clients. Mark the dates, reserve your spot, and join us.

Join five wonderful teachers (Pierce Salguero, Pamela Herrick, Gregory Oed, Al Turner II, Rose J. Griscom), along with some special guests (including Sudevi Kramer, Phillip Behrns, and Paul Fowler).

This year will be a focus on some of the esoteric aspects of Traditional Thai Medicine that previous participants have asked about. Pierce's presentations on Buddhist Healing will help us understand the history of Thai Medicine, as well as Thai healing magic, rituals of protection, spirit invocation, exorcism, magic charms, amulets, and other aspects of Thai healing culture. An additional topic of discussion includes “wai khru” ceremonies, altars, and other sacred spaces. We will delve into how to practice these aspects of Thai healing, with emphasis on “culturally translating” Thai traditions to fit with participants’ own teaching and practice goals.

Pamela will do something different this year (instead of her expert help in business-building tools) to guide us into learning hands-on ways to experience the sen as an expression of spirit. By developing our senses beyond traditional palpation, we will find answers to our unanswered questions about the sen. And gain a more complex understanding of clients’ presenting conditions and deepen the therapeutic impact of our work. All in a lighthearted, experimental and playful learning environment. No dogma. Just practice.

Al Turner returns from NYC to share his extensive knowledge and skill in the practical application of thai massage. And Gregory Oed will again lead us in daily reusi dat ton (the thai hermit's yoga) exercises that are directly linked to and will strengthen your thai massage practice.

Sudevi Kramer joins us from the Vedic Conservatory this year to share with you this yoga and ayuervedic inspired style of thai massage, giving you a fresh perspective to use in your practice. Phillip Behrns from VA brings his knowledge of Royal Thai Massage techniques as well as exploring Tok Sen (haven't heard of that yet? You will!). Paul Fowler from Blue Lotus Thai Healing in Chicago, recently back from his latest sojourn to Thailand, will join us and share some practical hands-on techniques.

-All 4 days are $450 regular price, or $750 for two if you BRING A FRIEND and register together by Feb 15th. You can also attend single days for $150.

-at the NJ shore in Ocean City, just south of Atlantic City

-interactive lectures on thai medicine and history and healing practices, daily Wai Khru and Reusi Dat Ton, lots of practical bodywork, sharing meals and hanging on the boardwalk together, so that you may come away more deeply connected to each other and your thai massage practice.

-play/share/trade/connect with other therapists

-teacher-led hands-on demonstrations and practices

-a comfortable space in downtown Ocean City NJ, three blocks from the beautiful beach and boardwalk

-THAI and NCBTMB 28 CEs for attending the full event

-Space is limited! We are keeping it small, no more than 35 people, so register early to hold your spot. The 4-day attendance is currently FULL, but you can attend for SINGLE DAYS at the link below.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Everyone loves the warmth and aroma of the herbs this time of year! The herb knowledge you'll gain can be applied for your personal use, for family health treatments, in cooking and home herbal remedies, and as a wonderful compliment for massage.
With massage, the herb packs add a unique, therapeutic, relaxing component to your work. The warm herbal compresses induce deep states of relaxation and enhance the therapeutic benefits of any massage. For your home, it gives you complementary tools for health.

The focus on this workshop is having fun while we explore the medicinal qualities of traditional herbs used in compresses as they are made and used in Thailand. Most of the day will involve learning about a variety of dried and fresh herbs as we make up our own compresses. We'll then steam the compresses, and toward the end of day, use them on a simple massage, either thai style onthe floor, or western style on a massage table. The herbs are easy to incorporate into a table massage, especially if you have a hot towel cabinet or small steamer nearby. If you aren't interested in doing the massage portion, don't worry, you can just receive instead, or observe!

WHAT TO BRING:
-for the massage portion, we will work OVER CLOTHING on a massage table (provided) or floor mat (bring one), so please wear (or bring to change into) loose, comfortable, modest clothing that allows freedom of movement;
-sometimes the fresh herb packs leave a light yellowish stain, so bring clothing you don't mind if this happens;
-bring linens, a sheet & pillow - remember it might get slightly stained;
-bring water and a snack for break time, or food to purchase is close by;
-if you grow your own herbs or have access to fresh or dried herbs, please bring some to share! Any medicinal herbs (or flowers) are welcome, although we will focus on traditional herbs from Thailand, such as ginger, eucalyptus, turmeric, lime, lemongrass, cinnamon, camphor, rose, orchid, along with rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, mint, chamomile, laurel and more.
